At a school carnival once, there was a kissing booth that had a parrot, and it would "kiss" you with it's beak, if you gave it a couple of sunflower seeds....it was very popular...
That is amazing that they had babies, usually that doesn't happen I guess. My daughter had three at one time, two were domesticated, and one was what is known as "wild caught" and had a banded leg...came from the jungle...she was the third owner of him, and he could be very destructive...
my dad has them in maui and i saw them last week...that is great your child had them.....now the ones my dad has....they are not parakeets...or budgies...um cockatoos?
Most of all those types of birds live at least 80 years, and sometimes live with 3 or 4 families during their lives....She had to give hers up, one kept dive bombing the baby...they went to an aviary to live out their lives....they are happy...
