I used to do OK in Spanish but it has been around 20 years. I still recognize words here and there and could probably pick it up without much difficulty.
I'm also quite fluent in Math, Engineering, USN... (I know those aren't considered languages as such, but they do have distinct language like characteristics.)
I understand Spanish pretty well, can speak it at a basic level, read it at about a sixth grade level, and write at perhaps a second grade level. I can't speak or write in Italian but I can understand and read a few words and phrases, mostly the ones that look or sound similar to Spanish.
A little Japanese, German, Spanish, Scots ;-) (if you don't think it is, try living in Dundee for a week), and Russian. I used to speak them more fluently, especially Japanese and German, but I have to be where it's spoken fairly often to retain any skills. I don't think in a language, so I've only learned English by rote, and since I lived in Germany and Japan I can pick those up again fairly quickly when I'm immersed in them again, I can understand quite a bit that's said in them, I just can't form a reply.
