Don't Conservatives have a clue what "Progressive" means? ?

To conservatives, calling someone Progressive is an insult ..
But at the same time conservatives think that what they want is better for the country..

according to the respected Merriam Webster on line Dictionary:
Progressive comes from the noun -Progress- in this case it is:
Progress :
Gradual betterment; especially : the progressive development of humankind
Progressive :
a : relating to, or characterized by progress.
b: making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities
conservative = retrogressive (the opposite of progressive)
Retrogressive :
a : going or directed backward
b : declining from a better to a worse state
c : passing from a higher to a lower level of organization
Notice the difference ?
Conservatives want to better the country ? sounds like an oxymoron to me

If I wanted to take a look at what progressivism in America means today, all I have to do is look at F.D.R. No thank you. You can take your progressivism back to wherever you came from. No kind of string-along game with words will make progressivism any prettier than it is, because it isn't.
It's possible to be progressive without being liberal or Democrat. Progressive is not an insult and neither is conservative- it is a descriptive term for a general set of socio-political values. But this is only my perspective of course.
And conservative means "keeping things as they are"
But like we say in Europe : stagnation means decline
Another example: liberal statists obviously don't see turning the country into a police state in order to protect us from the government-generated bogeyman du jour as "betterment." Conservative statists obviously do.
And, to quote Linda Ellerbee, so it goes. That vast majority of Americans who just want to be left the hell alone are being screwed literally left and right by statists who insist that they have the right to own other human beings. To this group of Americans, there's not a c*nt hair's worth of difference between 'conservative' and 'liberal' statism. There are ONLY those who wish to live free, in peace and unharassed by government (and the pinheads who love government), and evil statists. Make no mistake about it, though: statism in any flavor is evil.
