Does your word processing program change a misspelled word now with a different word instead of 'redlining' it so you can correct the spelling?

Is it just me or what? I hate that crap, I would rather see a 'redlined' misspelled word so I can correct it than have the computer pick something 'close' but makes the writer look like a retard.

My IQ is like 1,280. I always spell crap correctly. My word processing program (honestly?) is totally frightened of me. If it misbehaves, I smack it on the butt with an old Bed ,Bath, and Beyond flyer...

if you are using Word you can select whether it auto-corrects or marks it with the squiggly red underline instead ... how you make that selection will depend on which version of Word you are using

But the problem is that sometimes it auto-corrects and changes the misspelled word to a completely different word. i.e. if you spelled "house" wrong, it changes it to horse and does not show up as a misspelled word and you just keep right on going without realizing it. Just an example.

i think that it is important to have the "auto-correct" feature turned OFF because it does what IT wants and not what YOU want ... and spell-check prob won't catch conversion of house to horse ... the version of Word I use does mark things that seem off by underlining them with a squiggly green line ... like verbs that don't match subjects, words that seem wrong ... i use Word 2010, and have come to like it a lot, though it often thinks it knows better than I do what i need ... you have to make it your bitch! ha ha ha!!!

Just type in a misspelled word and see what it does. Do several of them because sometimes it auto corrects the spelling if it is close but sometimes it changes the word completely and does not show up as a misspelled word so you don't correct it.
