Does your wife or partner allow you to decorate, and wives do you let your husband ?

You!

My wife is in total control of the decorating, which is fine, her taste is great but I could never buy a painting and hang it on the wall without prior agreement, or even move my favourite chair in direct line of the television. Could you or would you let your husband/partner ?

I'm not in any relationship but my parents are trying to stuff my room with girly stuff my dad is arguing with me again because he wants me to go pick up in the yard which is messy because of my brother and I would if my damn knee didn't hurt it's kind of embarrassing when your 15 and you walk with a bad limp

SEE That's why I'm not married, I can do what ever I want and no one can say a damn word about it and it's going stay that way!

It's not that I wouldn't allow him to, but rather, he has no interest in doing it. Even when we made the den his "man cave," he had me decorate it. Which is fine. I don't mind.

Seeing that Own my house and there is no wife in the picture, yes I decorate, and do a fair job of it. I can match colors

Not wife..yet! Was, but my ex had ZERO interest in our home furnishings, putting a terrible burden onto me...would not offer an OPINION! My almost fiance...I'd give him free reign to do whatever when it comes to decorating. Our tastes are similar, he has a knack for getting the "bones" of the room perfect, and I have the knack for accessories, something he HATES.

This is one subject where I can not be out ruled. I am a gay Interior Designer. :^D (You think your wife is tough? lol...)
But if you don't mind some advice? I have dealt with this many times with clients and I would say bite your tongue and do as she says. 99% of the time the wife is correct. It may sound like a stereo type but most women choose home furnishings for looks while most men look for comfort. I would suggest converting the garage or a back yard storage shed into a man cave. You should have a month or two of peace before she decides it needs to be re-decorated.

lol, yeah she is tough, I turned my chair just a little for better view of TV and she said it threw the whole flow of the room off. As a designer would you think that would be a problem?
Good advice though about converting a space, I'm thinking about doing that with our basement, but that has to be put on back burner until nursery is completed.

As a diplomatic designer I would suggest a chair that swivels. They come in many different styles and sizes so both of you will be able to find something you like.
And you're definitely right about the nursery. That little guy or gal will be here before you know it. :-)

My husband left all the decorating up to me. He had his own "mancave" thing that he had just as he wanted, but other than that he never showed any interest in decorating.

I am not a wife, and as my boyfriend is the breadwinner at the moment, I am grateful he considers my opinion ;)
