Does SodaHead hate Those On The Left ?

Sodahead, the internet, political discourse in general...it just hates. It doesn't really discriminate, if there is any opposition to something, that thing will receive a lot of hate.

Who Cares ?...Left & Right are Directional choices...They are NOT positions of opinion (that is a prejudice) as the Reality of the "bottom line"...is that until you see things as they ARE, not how you may want or like them to be...YOU are UNABLE to change anything.

A bunch of those on the right hate those on the left. A bunch of those on the left hate those on the right. This is because people actually want to scream at each other and get a smug sense of self satisfaction, they don't want to do a silly thing like have reasonable discourse.

I don't like the ones that are very mean.

The most hateful are the right wingers. I am a big girl and deal with them even if I have to wallow in the mud with them..

What I dislike intensely is these people get a group, insult you, then block you. If you block others on a poll you should not be able to make any more statements on that poll. On one poll approx. 20 wingnuts blocked me so I couldn't reply and yet they kept their insults going..

That I will not put up with..My freedom of speech is removed but not that of the offenders.

I think there are people on the left and people on the right that simply lack the capacity to disagree in an agreeable manner. I'm a Presbyterian and a Libertarian. My friends include people of different creeds (or none) and almost every political philosophy. Unless the person is a racist, or a Nazi or other totalitarian we can get along.

I've run across racists of the left, right, and middle, and people who are colorblind across the board. In the Old South, a lot of the Dixecrats were political progressives except on race issues, and one of the most conservative Republicans (Dirksen) garnered the votes that forced cloture on the Dixiecrat filibuster of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. People are individuals and in my life I've discovered that rarely does anyone fit the neat little stereotypes that we are often fed.

It is neither strictly the left, or right, that begins to cast insults and personal attacks when a discussion does not go their way. I have seen many situations that have started with either side of a discussion.

The question that you ask is similar to comparing Congress to how it was running when the Republicans (or Democrats) have the majority. The truth is that BOTH parties have been guilty of screwing this country up with government expansion and higher taxes (in addition to many other issues). The longer people think that either party is the 'lesser evil' and keep voting them into office, the longer the problems will continue.

I agree with you that we are all guilty of insulting one another. I have no problem with that as my problem is with the left suffering for the same things right wingers say and they are allowed to and you aren't.

Totally understood. I've been blocked by those that do not like facts or differing opinions as well.

Obviously Soda Head is operated by Republicans, far right wingers and fundamentalists christians...

I don't believe it is sodaheads fault. I do however think it provides a wonderful platform for all of us to share our viewpoints with others. The republicans have taken this platform and are using it to spread hate and ignorance because they are too scared to share their true feelings to their friends and coworkers face to face. Not many of them even show their face or location in their profile.

Hate seems like a strong word to me. I do think it's evident that those running the site have a particular political point of view, but I imagine much of the bias is just the natural unintentional consequence of having a point of view. We all love to think we're objective, but in truth we all act on our biases whether we realize it or not.

How many people do you know who would actually claim that they do? I bet you the people who maintain SH don't think they are that biased either. It's like the poll of people who think they are better than average drivers or smarter than average.

I think everybody acts on their own biases. It's when we assume we have no biases that I think all of us get into trouble.

I have had very hateful replies from repbulcians..I replied to one who hates all liberals and thinks only republicans are real Americans..I told him my family is full of veterans and I have friends fighting in Iraq and Afghanastan who are liberals..The jerk wrote and said he could care less whether my friends die over there..I was shocked but even more so when his hate spewing friends agreed..

To hate any liberal that is fighting in our wars is dispicable regardless of the persons political views..Now that is hate and I see it all the time and it is always a republican spewing it.

Undoubtedly there are plenty of hateful people on this site. But it would be next to impossible for the owners of the site to police all of that. I think the question is whether the owners of the site hate liberals. I do think the site is biased. I just wouldn't go so far as to say the owners hate liberals.

You are correct. Biased is a better word. You have only to read to see who gets away with what.

I really don't know why sh doesn't work on being unbiased. I can handle rude remarks but not biased behavior of those who come here to interact.

I have had many of the same experiences you have, although never from any of the staff members who run the site (ok, maybe a few times, I've exposed ignorance even of those running the site, but for the most part staff members have engaged in honest debate).

Again, I'm fully on board with saying those who run the site are biased. And I'm also fully on board with saying they let that cloud their judgment all too often. I just wouldn't go so far as to say those who run the site hate liberals, and I continue to stand by that contention.

That said, I have to say that a big part of me looks forward to the vacation from SH that starts tomorrow and goes until at least February 2nd. I doubt the SH staff will get the message

There is absolutely NO reason for one to let one's point of view produce bias in one's professional activities. NONE! Succeedingf in doing this in the performance of one's job is called professionalism, and is a minimal requirement for adequate job performance. Simply assuming that everyone exhibits bias because everyone has an opinion is a gross and basic denial of even the possibility of adequate professional performance displaying adequate professionalism.

I think you're overestimating the amount to which we can reduce the level at which we act on our own biases, and you are underestimating the level of bias that we all have simply by virtue of having the limited perspective of human beings.

That said, I do think we all should resist acting on our biases as much as possible, something I don't think SH staff do particularly well. But I don't think that translates to SH staff hate lefties.
