But, learning how to use them is also important.

That being said, having access to them will absolutely lower the number of teen mothers because even knowing the basics is better than nothing.

It lessens the risk but doesn't eliminate it entirely.

That, and proper education are big steps in the right direction. Just telling kids not to have sex has vivdly proven ineffective.

I can imagine that it probably would not hurt. Education would be a better idea.

Yes and no. Some teens have access to them but just don't use them. But some teens use them and it does prevent their pregnancies. But there are also those cases, where the condom breaks.

Just because you can access them does not mean that you'll use them. Using them would prevent many teen pregnancies.

duh how can you answer no? the other option is not having access, for those who say "oh they won't use them though" Its more likely they will use them if they have access rather than not having access geez

The actual use of condoms by teens helps prevent teen pregnancies. Having access alone will not.

You actually have to use them correctly and they have to be free of defects. Regardless of age.

my bf and i had full access to them... used them once but never again... so having access doesnt mean they will use them... also, they break, really easily...

No but I do think it helps. Abstinence can be shouted from the roof tops but teens are still having sex so lets give them "some" protection.

Yes they will prevent pregnancy if they are used EVERY time AND used CORRECTLY. I hope that is taught is whatever sex ed classes they have now.

I don't have a problem with teen pregnancy as long as no law was broken and the moms are married.

Giving condoms has not helped illegal teen pregnancy in any state where it has been tried.

But using them does. We can't just throw a bunch of condoms in a bowl on the counter and say "come and get 'em".

The part of a teenagers brain the controls thought process is not fully developed and they are much more likely to act on impulse without thinking of the consequences of their actions. While having condoms available will not get ride of teenage pregnancy completely, it will increase the likely hood of a teenager using condoms instead of having unprotected sex.

I believe it helps for sure. Doesn't completely get rid of it, but it would be worse in my opinion if kids had nothing to protect themselves with. Easy access to condoms is easy access to protection. :)
