I've been in advanced and AP classes since 7th grade. I'm a NERD! I admit it. I've made it Student of the Month so many times.

The last two years of school I was number one every single marking quarter. :) Highest Honors and I cleaned up a lot of the Awards on Senior Awards night. I didn't get the number one slot over all though.... I messed up ninth grade, but I still finished in the top five.

I really didn't put for the effort. I just did enough to get by.

No we didnt have honors that I know of except the Valedictorian and Salutatorian. But I was in the upper third of my class. And the only reason I even know that is that this was a requirement to be accepted in a New Jersey or NY college. Don't know the number.didn't care. Only had to pass the NY state entrance exams.

No idea what honours are, could someone fill me in? I was picked to do advanced maths, computing and sciences though, if they're similar...

I was usually on the borderline for the 10% because of my disdain for homework (we didn't have an honor roll per se). Where I got my advantages for college was in testing and in extracurriculars.

Yep, among other nerdy accomplishments I had back then, like NHS, Who's Who, National Forensics League Quad Ruby, and I was also a National Merit finalist. My class rank was 3 out of 426. At the time, I wanted to kill the 2 guys that were #1 and #2.

My school's valedictorian beat the salutatorian because the salutatorian took a sport (so he got a non-honors A) but the valedictorian tested out of sport (which was left off his GPA and opened up a slot to take another honors class).

    Now that's ruthless.

At my high school "honor roll" was probably a badge of shame. The grades in my high school were so biased and corrupted that certain "pet students" could get A plus grades on assignments which they did not even do. (I remember one incident where a teacher handed one of these "pet students" an empty midterm test paper with an A plus grade on it as she handed the other students their tests, The teacher's pet hadn't even bothered to take the midterm, unlike the rest of us.) Though I knew some of these "pet students" personally, I was not one of them.

Since I left, the state department of education instituted a required Exit Test for high school students. In two different years, my high school's campus valedictorian flunked the state exit test, wile most of the student body passed it. Apparently, the campus pets could not corrupt the state Exit Test, which was administered by personal from outside the school district.

The only exit test we had was a Math Competency exam.

I'm in smart classes too! We barely have AP classes because our school is so small but mine are considered 'honors classes' :)
