As appealing as the thought is....I enjoy it too much to want to make it into "work".
WAAAAAY back in the 80s when I was in high school, I "walked on" to the Jr Varsity swim team. I had taken swimming lessons since age 6 and could cut water like a knife.
But my coach....wouldn't let me ENJOY it.
Even though I was a body length faster than anyone else on the team, she kept pushing and pushing.....She even wanted me to shave my legs for that 1/1000 of a second....
Even though I had a slot on the Varsity team waiting.....I walked back off again. I enjoyed swimming.....and she made it into work. I have since decided that I would never allow anything I loved to do for the shear joy of doing it, to become my job.
When I write....I write for the love of writing. If I ever finish my novel, I will take a shot at publication, just to see if it's marketable. But even if so, I will not embark on a career in writing.....I ENJOY it too much.
