If it's good enough ,a five day rule sets in .As long as it doesn't run when I pick it up ,it's game.

But I don't think the bacteria on the floor is all that harmful in your body. I've eaten food I've dropped on the floor numerous times and haven't gotten sick. As for the validity of the rule, I don't think it makes any difference whether the food has been on the floor for five seconds or five hours. The bacteria is on it right away.

Strangely enough, it doesn't really bother me too much unless something was dropped in a restroom or outside on the ground!

As long as the floor is clean, etc. I don't think much harm can be done.

If its something I absolutely love-(that does not include anything sticky gooey, or in liquid form) please, I don't care if its been on the floor 15 seconds. Then again i'm not crazy- ifs dropped in crap, dirt, or dust, forget it, i mean come on, don't be gross. Other wise if the floor is fairly clean, then yes. Most times in public absolutely not, who knows what things been there before I was. I'm also a pretty clean person so anything that drops on my turf, I'd pick it up and pop it right back in as if it never happened. Otherwise i leave it, and contribute to the little critters' winter food.

Yep. But I'm more rigid: I use the 'three seconds and no hair' rule. Except with cigarettes - the limit time is something about 2 minutes. ;)
