I send out packages regularly ...
to family members far from where I am at ..
needless to say ..
of the last few dozen of packages sent ...
ONLY ONE package .. was delivered when the post office stated it was to be delivered!
(The rest .. late .. VERY Late .. Damaged .. just UGH .. only one on-time delivery!)

As long as I go with Priority or Express, I've never had a problem with USPS, even around the holidays. Usually if something arrives late it's because the company took forever to ship it *cough* Target.com *cough* ....

I've had so many things disappear that I felt like I was dropping things off in the Bermuda Triangle. My mother-in-law sent us a package once and, when she called to see if it arrived and ask if everyone liked their gifts, NOTHING she sent was in the box. Instead, it had books and clothes and other odds and ends. Almost like they filled it with stuff from the Lost and Found dept.

Several bad experiences where things just went missing and all they did was attach a sorry letter.

I found that fastest ground service is UPS.
