    Health concerns with steroids are more severe.

    But you make a very valid point and one that I make all the time. People that fluster over the performance aspect are viewing this from the wrong end. There are already a number of legal ways to boost ones performance in various sports.

    There weren't enough choices..as usual. But No, steroids should not be allowed in baseball, nor anywhere else, for that matter. Steroids do more harm than good. They should be banned.

    The state has no business infringing on the bodily self-determination of its subjects. The baseball league as a private organization should have the right to set rules, however.

    I can't believe that the United States Congress actually wasted time hold hearings on steroid usage in professional baseball. There are few things I care about less than the drug usage of professional athletes.

    So what of all the legal substances and personally chosen equipment that artificial boosts player performance? Performance isn't the heart of this issue because you can already legally boost it.

    The issue here is health of the athlete and I'm always concerned when people fret more over stats than they do over life.
