No, inhibiting a person's ability to access information is just plain wrong.

In the city and county i am in they always block things like marriam webster and they always use the excuse "its slowing everything down" and its bull crap. I'm reallsy pissed off that they think they can just log on to their name and block every website they can find. And if it was slowing it down that much then they would upgrade.

Rather barbaric on their part what difference does it make how one obtains information. Another good argument to get Government out of our school systems

Sexual orientation should be something the parents have to deal with not the teachers.

What kind of education is the real question. Some might say that Dan Savage is educational.

No information on what sites are being blocked. How they are blocked. Or why the school board chose those particular sites to block.

You need to explain what you are talking about.

That's not a very good question. It depends on what type of education you are trying to get. If you are trying to learn how to make a better bomb, yeah that should be blocked. If you are trying to learn about the Civil War, then no. None of the sites should be blocked.

It depends what the topic of inquiry is.
If it is about things like more performing satisfying sex or porn instead of anatomy or making a bomb, definitely.

In my day, (oh God, I sound like my mother) we didn't have computers in the school. We had classes all day and we might have had one study hall. We took electives to fill the whole day so that we were always learning something. If you are surfing the web while you're in school, it's very possible that you are not learning what you are supposed to be learning. That's why our educational scores are so much lower than other countries. Learn what you are supposed to be learning while you're at school and surf the web when you're home and your homework is done.

It's terrible! I have story of why my school is stupid: One day in my Tech Careers class I tried to find facts about Paul Rivere, almost every site was blocked... Then my friend who was on google was finding information on STD's mistakenly pulled up a infected vagina... Yeah, and Paul Rivere was blocked....

It depends on what type of education you are referencing. If it's inappropriate material that some think kids should be exposed to, such as gay pride, then yes, I think the school should ban such websites. I am friends with many same sex couples and even they agree it's not appropriate material for school kids. Just like sex education shouldn't happen until a certain age group... What type of educational websites are you thinking of?

I can see why they would have the right to block Harmful websites, such as porngrapghic but educational NO way. You got to remember it's their computers and their internet address. They do not want to get law suit by parents for expose a child to harmful material.

The government is now in total control of our education. They tell us what to read and what to think. They may, from time to time, determine that certain information is bad for us. They have the power to determine which information we have access too.

They do this because the implementing the new technology would force schools to ditch their antiquated methods.

Schools all around have blocked websites like "Grooveshark" and even educational websites and why? I DONT KNOW but it pisses me off to no extent. They should not have the right to take away any website from the students whatsoever except the xxx and chat rooms.
