Young children need proper rest, especially during the school year. Both my kids started off with an early bedtime and every year I extend it a little bit. My son is 10 and he's in the house by 8, has a snack, hits the shower, brushes his teeth, and off to bed by 9. Less headaches for me trying to get him up at 6:30 to get ready for school. During the summer I give more leeway, though.

why would it be bad? no kid wants to go to bed but they need their rest, they're just not old enough to realise their needs yet.

when i was at boarding school, the year 11s (15/16yr olds) had to be in bed by 10pm. it's no hardship, just what is necessary to keep up with the schedule.

my kids are in bed at 7 and 7.30, aged 3 and 5 respectively. i see nothing wrong with that.

They don't have to fall asleep that time, but at least they are in bed for when they do.(:

It's a good idea. It sets boundries and the kids get rest. Besides it gives the parents some time for themselves. Something most forget.

I would have hated it, but I'd be better for the conditioning, mostly because I have horribly irregular sleeping habits that involves me putting down the comp and, "going to bed" anywhere from 12 AM, to 3 AM. . . .yeah :T

If the habit of sleeping early is not started at a young age they'll turn out like me. It's 1:48AM here, and I plan on not sleeping at all.

Of course I think it's bad because up until I was 8 I was one of the kids with that bed time. My mother would say "your brain needs rest for school"

In my head I'd say "ta loco, brain needs rest" could''t say it out loud because if a 7:30 bedtime is normal then punishment would have to be worse.

Too early. When I was little I had to be in bed at 8:15. I could respect that. But 7:30? The sun's still out!

there is such a thing as too early even for kids. what time are they getting up in the morning though? If they have to get up at 4:30 am then that would be fine.

It depends on their age, what time they have to get up, etc. I don't think this is bad at all. . . Kids need a good 8-9 hours of sleep a night. . .

Kids need way more sleep than adults. Also, it is important that children have routines and some structure in their lives.

Really you need an "other" category. I'm not sure about the time but I think a standard bed time is important. When I was growing up, even my senior year in high school, our bedtime was 8:30 except on Friday & Saturday (when I started dating). Then it was ...curfew 11:00 and straight to bed when we got home. Kids need structure.

I send my kids to bed at 7:30. They need all the rest they can get. My kids get up at 5:30 have their showers, eat breakfast and get ready for school. I grew up going to be at 7:30 til I was 16 and had a job.

Both my kids had regular bed time from the time they were sleeping through the night. By the time they started school there were no arguments about bedtime. Routine is good.

That's about the right time for kids until they're 10 years, I think. Then as they get abit old er you should expand it as you go along.

bad if them do not want to go to bed that early.
however - having enough sleep to rebuilt energies 4 the next day - might as well teach the kids - to behave better later on with mental energie rescources - -be it in state of grown up life, they will have to lead - learning and working. But there ought allway be an exeception of the rule - that depents on the kids individual self and its age.
