I I went to Hawaii in February 1974. I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian village. Resort. I visited the beach, ala monona shopping mall,went to a luaua. Saw don ho in person. Went to Kauai island and mauai island . Went to the cliffs of the king Kamuamaui battles. Saw many things of interest including Pearl Harbor . I read about the excellent kamamhaa schools fr Hawaiian descendant children. When I go paces in life , I read and observe all that I can. Hawaii is a beautiful land. (Sorry I butchered many spellings).

Always wanted to visit Hawaii maybe in the next life I will have the time and money to do so little touch of paradise you have there not so.
Very similar to our Indian Ocean coast in a lot of ways lovely beaches and big waves and lots of tropical green. :)

No, I didn't see that. I have 3-small dogs running over me most of the time, so I miss a LOT of scenes while I'm watching TV.
I wonder if I can watch the Aloha Week Parade online? What colors were you wearing?

Hi Veda!
My niece and her group were all dressed in Kimonos and doing Okinawan dancing. I'm sure you were more comfortably dressed than them!!!
Are you graduating this year?

oh heyyy but i'm in intermediate and i'm also an 8th grader and i'm 13 yrs old right now its okay but your niece did really good she really looks like a professional is she in hula 2 =)

My neice is way older than you. She started taking Okinawan dance lessons when she was just 3-years old. She's 45 now. She play the piano, flute, speaks fluent Japanese and went to Okinawa to learn and be certified to teach samishen lessons. She performs at weddings, retirement parties and just performed in Washington, D.C. with her instructor.
Oh! She said when she was at Pacific University in Oregon, she peformed the hula for an "Aloha Week" program.
So if you decide to go to a mainland college, your hula skills will come in handy!!!

wow i'm good at piano 2 and i play the alto saxophone and clairnet and violin and flute and i'm the captain of the hula girls in yhe waianae marching band and i was chosen to be captain since in 7th grade now i'm a captain in 8th grade =)

Oh WOW! You sound like an "over-achiever" student!!!!! I'm so impressed!!!!
Do you know what your plans are after you graduate? You could study at the UH or go to any mainland college with your skills!!!!
My niece went to the UH for her first year. She played the flute in the UH marching band. I think part of her tuition was covered by the UH for being in the band?
If you go to college, are you going to major in music?

yeah i'm going to a good marching band college or either a good hula college cause i'm going to be a professional hula dancer when i grow up so that way when i'm a professional hula dancer i can go back to the waianae intermediate and help out the waianae marching band and teach the new 7th grader the new routines besides i'm going to kapolei high school next year for high school and be in the marhing band i'm going to be in flags =)
