Do you think, given the right circumstances, that you'd be capable of murder?

Admit it folks, we have all, at least in our darkest fantasies, envisioned visiting a grisly end upon someone who had grievously wronged us, either emotionally or physically.

Fortunately for society, most people, with the exception of psychopaths and sociopaths, have built-in inhibitions against taking a human life. However, it's my belief that, given the right circumstances, all of us are capable of killing another person.

Most people would kill to protect their loved ones, especially their children. Soldiers, in a combat situation, routinely kill out of the necessity to protect themselves and their fellow combatants.

Only the thin veneer of civilization separates us from our more primitive ancestors. The anthropologist Desmond Morris in his book The Naked Ape referred to man as nothing more than " a killer ape in a business suit".
