Sure, I think there is and will continue to do so until some kind of proof comes along. After all, the universe is supposed to be infinite. The possibility that there's some other form of life out there seems realistic.

. . .But I figure it's more like the intergalactic version of infection control. They rightly don't wanna contaminate their culture with ours--at least not until we develop warp drive, and then the Vulcans will land on the Whitehouse lawn where they will be promptly captured and vivisected.

In the strictest meaning of the word ...there has absolutely been extraterrestrial life ever since the first animal that was sent up in a rocket and continues with each time a person is sent into orbit. They may originate from earth but when they're up there ...they're extraterrestrial.
