Do you think Bush Jr. is missing from the convention because he wanted it that way or because he was told they didn't think it was helpful?

I'm leaning towards that Bush isn't actually a political person. But what do you think?

They want to keep him out of sight, he's a blight on the republican party. And if people see him they'll remember what a mess he left us in when he left office.

I don't know. My speculation is that it was a personal choice he made based upon his own lack of enthusiasm for the Republican nominee.

Bush is kind of a tragic figure and I'm starting to think he will come out in the new future.

that's a waste of a comment.... sorry. Bush didn't cause the financial meltdown. It's not about Bush vs Obama. It's bigger than that. Time to wake up.

I wish all former presidents would STFU. They had their chance to be relevant, they put in their time and attempts at changing their legacy are just sad...Bill is resembling Jimmy Carter more and more....these two creatures are the worst examples of prima donnas ever!! They are simply awful. I like the precedent of Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. by remaining silent...during the Bush Jr. term the press would interview Sr. hoping to get a sound byte critical of his son...that kind of journalism is sickening and disgusting..the game of "Gotcha"

but republicans have recently been lauding Clinton to the skies. Now why would they do that?
Will they change tack now that it's backfired and Clinton has said he is very much in Obama's camp?

Clinton hates obama for what he did to Hillary (and him). Clinton became a moderate in 1994 when he lost Congress and actually worked with Newt Gingrich to do some good things. Obama is out golfing and campaigning plus the fact that he's a community organizing leaflet distributor and a super teleprompter reader as well.

so he hates Obama? That wasn't present in his speech. You might think that way, but he sure doesn't. If anyone helped Obama this time it was Clinton, so your views are kinda defunct right? Did you actually listen to Clinton/s speech? I guess not.
P.S. The repubs used teleprompters all over the place. Silly claim.

Does this sound like a guy who wants obummer to win?
Former President Bill Clinton predicts that President Obama will win re-election by “five or six points,” but also suggested last night that the incumbent stop attacking Mitt Romney’s private equity work at Bain Capital.

“I don’t think we ought to get into the position where we say, ‘this is bad work, this is good work,’” Clinton said on the Piers Morgan program on CNN.

Clinton not only said that Romney was qualified to be President but that his business record at Bain was “sterling.”

Clinton told guest host Harvey Weinstein that Romney is qualified for president.

“There’s no question that in terms of getting up and going to the office and basically performing the essential functions of the office, a man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold,” Clinton said.

what jimmy d said...not all republicans are lauding over Clinton...but for those that do, they remember that he actually had to work with Repubs when Dems were swept out of office.

His antics during his presidency have soured many conservative minded people for the rest of their lives...many people didn't like explaining oral sex to their children or sticking a cigar in a woman's vagina, or explain that DNA sample on a blue dress was actually his ejaculate..little things like that are more than a bit off putting to say the least. You do understand this point of view do you not? I hope you can respect that..

IDK for sure but he is very respectful of the office of the President of the United States and despite the bashing that he has taken from Obama, he has remained silent. I think that speaks to his integrity.

agreed. I think Bush Jr. doesn't disrespect Obama nearly as much as his party claims to do. I still remember his ashen face when at the end of 2008 he was told the banking system was collapsing. I bet he thought to himself "my God I wouldn't wish this on anyone"

I do wish that Obama had as much respect for previous Presidents as Bush does for his successors. I personally think it speaks to his integrity. It's so easy to blame everyone else.
