If clapping and cheering is, then Booing is as well. This is America. Its free speech, and the first Amendment is there to protect all speech, popular and unpopular.

We've been conditioned to be far too "polite" these days, when we should be speaking our minds.

Generally no but when the comment plays on racism, it may be appropriate. I believe Mitt deliberately provoked the crowd by showing disrespect to the president. In such cases booing can be appropriate. Sure beats that republican congress person who stood up and yelled liar at the president. Republicans just have no class.

Do I think it's appropriate? No. I think booing is rude, and one should be respectful to whomever is speaking, regardless of how you feel about what they are speaking on. There's no harm in being civil.

Is it a Constitutional right to do so? Yes. People should be able to boo if they want, even if it's disrespectful to do so.
