Yes! Who cares what others think if they don't agree with me?
No! I enjoy testing my ideas, theories, opinions, etc. against those with dissenting viewpoints.
Resistance is futile. You WILL be made to agree with me!
You!

By that I don't mean do you engage in occasional soliloquy, I mean do you only converse with those who agree with you--i.e., in essence talk to yourself by way of dittoheads?

Depends on the day and how I feel. Sometimes I just want to 'talk' with those that have the same values and other days, I'm up for a debate.

Very much so, and several bosses teased me about it, but one of the Universities announced the results of studies on people who talked to their selves a lot and it determined that they were much better problem solvers. The bosses shut up as they knew that was true!

I do like batting around ideas with people who have very different views from mine, but I run out of patience once the name-calling and personal attacks begin.

I do because I feel that it is healthy vs other common misconceptions. It is well known that one talks to themselves is generally a better orator when in positions that require speaking in front of others.

I think the title of the question is misleading and the results are going to show that.
I do talk to myself, often, but I also spend a lot of time alone at work, so I need some company. It's also a good way to practice accents.

However when having a discussion about something I prefer to have it with someone who shares a different point of view. It doesn't have to be an opposing point of view, simply someone with different ideas to share.

Multiple perspectives are the best way to get a feel for a topic, in my opinion.

Oh myself will debate with me at times as to whether I'm right or wrong, then I usually call myself a name because I usually know myself was right, or at least had a good point! But some times I confer with my dogs.

LOL. my springer spaniel actually talks...his language of course, it's not barking. My hubby's toy Poodle which I got stuck with (he's in assisted living and can no longer take care of him) has really expressive eyes and face expressions. I have no one at home except them and I swear they really understand me. If it wasn't for the computer business and them I'd go nuts!

Heck no, My Dad was a die hard Democrat until his death last year. I am registered Rep. but more a conservative. So was my mom. My sister is a Dem. I frustrated my Dad because I didn't agree with his line of thinking at all. I am hard to keep quiet when I disagree with someone over things like politics .

I would say the one I love, or those who guide me to be on the right path. But it has to be the RIGHT ONE, that I believe I can change, on how they act, no matter how much they want to resent me, or hide from me. just talk, let me share my feelings for you, and I believe that I can change your mindset, and mine aswel. I know how these people, cus I've delt with these sort of female mindsets a DOZEN TIMES OVER. If I stray from the path that is not correct, I lose that person, cus of actions, there afraid of. let me be that person to help you kaia, on the path of happiness, instead of fleeing. these are the reasons that keep me motivated. sitchuations that are new to me, that I like to solve. other ppls problems. Not mine. I know what I'm doing. but is that person, also saying it? but for a quick get-a-way? or, is it because of personal problems? this I asure you, I can help you out in.

I talk to my inner self, not as if I'm having a conversation with another person and expecting a reply. I think talking to yourself is your conscious mind speaking to your subconscious. It would be different if I was asking myself questions, and then replying in a different voice, then my wife would probably have me committed.
