Why do people have names spelled in nontraditional ways get offended when people do not spell it right. They should at least tell people how to spell it or deal with the misspelling.

Just the same, people shouldn't get offended if people can't spell their name. I have a simple, four letter name but it's not all that common a name in my generation so sometimes people ask how to spell it. Nothing to get offended over. Sometimes it's just a personal preference thing. I have a friend called Nicolas who insists on his name being Nic when usually it's Nick.
"No... it's B-R-A-J-D-Y-N-A... but the first "A" is a FOUR and there's an apostrophe just before the Y."
I only get peeved off when I tell someone the proper spelling and they still spell it the wrong way. I get that no one can magically know the proper spelling without me telling them first. But if I do tell someone when they're about to write it, it's a little annoying for them to disregard what I just said.
