I was brought up with manners, to say please and thank you, and, to respect my elders. Even if they don't treat me with respect, I won't drop to their level.

The poor people in developing countries, who still believe in having large families, and who have many children for practical reasons such as "old age security," are wiser than we are, trusting an evil government to take care of us when we get old? Ha! Social inSecurity trust fund is full of nearly worthless IOUs.

Thank God my family believes in taking care of our own when we become elderly. It's not easy by no means, but the elderly took care of us when we were young and they weren't elderly. It's only fair that we take care of them when they need us the most.

When families are larger, I think it comes easier, for consider the odds. If you have many children, odds are, especially if you raised them right, at least one of them will have the big house, and the desire, to take you in, when you can no longer do everything on your own. Why have to draft anybody with the obligation, when there are VOLUNTEERS?

Nobody in my family(2 sisters,1 brother) ever offered to help me with my Mama or Daddy.I had it to do all on my own.Although my Aunts would come on Sundays and give me a few hours off from taking care of Mama.

The point was, that you were there for your parents. What if your parents had had only 3 children, with you being the child excluded? Who then would help them? Would they have to "guilt" one of their other children into doing it?

So let me ask you this. Have you enjoyed, or perhaps received any blessing or benefit or inner joy or anything, for helping your parents? I mean somehow I think it sounds like, you got some benefit or some sense of fulfillment in this?

Anyway, the typical American household is too small. In other countries, people are more likely to live with their extended families, several generations under one roof, or at least nearby?

Has Mopeder unfairly censored all of my replies on his threads, with no reason, no explanation? SH is really bad at not revealing who the liberal-retard censorship culprit is. Is there some place I can file a complaint? I am still getting replies from people I can't seem to talk to.

Yeah, I did the Report Abuse. Not sure what good it will do, as maybe this place is run by liberal jerks?

And so far, I have yet to see any Reply. Maybe they don't care?

I wonder if they are all about the same person? Why is this liberal? guy allowed to spam my email with his latest questions, and yet I have never friended him? I suggested they demote him from his lofty position, as it puts the entire SH in a bad light.

Don't forget, life isn't just about the end destination, but also about enjoying the journey. And seeing how we can help people, along the way.

Very often, when I can carpool or ride on a bus on a trip, I enjoy the long ride, and watching all the scenery going by.

Depends on which elders they are. If someone kidnapped me, I would NOT be polite to them, just really, really creepy. I'm not always polite to people over the Internet, either.

One of the perks of getting older is that you can say pretty much anything you want to and get by with it. I'm actually enjoying that part of it.

Always respect your elders. I have learned that this is a vital part of life. Of course, at my age, I don't have all that many elders -- so that leaves most of you young whipper-snappers needing to RESPECT ME!
