WE presently are paying for our car and in 2 more years it is ours.
In the past however when I used my cars for work, I leased them and was able to just go in and exchange them every 2-3 years. Leasing allows you to have a new car, with minimal up front cost, if any. And a REsidual at the end of the lease.
At that time you turn the car back in and walk away, or you can finance the Resudual if you wish to keep the car. Which keeps the payments lower than an outright purchase.
I have rented a car on holiday abroad. But generally I get by on my little Vespa, all paid off :-) Don't laugh, you gas guzzlers, it takes me there and back and that's all I need right now :-)
I as well save a ton on gas. But don't think that Vespa is practical for 4000 Mile trips which we take 2-3 times a year. Usually rack up 15,000 miles a year, probably get a blister or 2 on your tailbone trying the on the Vespa.
I did however have a Honda Moped back in the 70's that I used to get back and forth to work 5 miles. And it save me a ton over the Car. But it was not comfortable in the winter and the Rain
Yep once I'm sorted I'l have to get decent car. I'd love a Mini Cooper S with the Union Flag roof, or a Mazda MX5 in racing green to learn to drift in :- ) But right now I commute to classes on my little put put tilI I get old and settle for a Volvo Estate :-(
