    And I specifically remember him as Robert Hartley, PhD, clinical psychologist. I remember his regular clients, and I remember the day he and his dentist friend tried to form a Doctor's Cooperative on their professional floor. The Group Session with all the other doctors on that floor was one of the most hilarious scenes in the whole show.

    Yes that was a long time ago, When I was young and Stupid. We use to play a drinking game, you had to take a drink every time the name bob got mentioned one episode could mess you up pretty good

    ...he's been around since I was a kid; I used to just love his monologues and his telephone routines..his sit-com as psychologist Robert Hartley is classic...probably one of the most talented, low-key and underrated comedians ever...

    I remember both the original 70's Bob Newhart Show with Bob Newhart and Bill Daily, as well as Newhart in the 80's.

    Remember him and his show well. I never watched it much because I don't care much for comedy shows. I mostly like, mystery, western and war story series plus older movies.

    I liked him for his stand up..at the time it was truly revolutionary...and it still is few can pull off a one sided conversation and make it funny

    He had a popular show in the 70's. Actually a great comedy writer and gave alot of comedians a startup in the business.

    Great stand up comic but I mostly remember him as the psychologist on the Bob Newhart show. A staple on the weekly TV schedule back when there were roof antennas and only 6 stations.

    Definitely. And I recall his early days when he did the comedy routines on the telephone. They were hilarious. And then, of course, his two very popular TV shows. I still watch reruns of them frequently. He's a classic.
