well, yes and no. i have a stray cat who has taken up residence at my house. . . and she has four kittens....so, technically, she is not mine, but she is trying to make herself mine ;)
4 cats now. I don`t really clam ownership over them as they belong to me like slaves.
They are pretty much free, here they have food and shelter but they are pretty much capable of feeding themselves. :D
My two girls died two years ago this past winter within a month of each other. You would have liked them. They were both solid black. They were little mates and I had them 19 years. I just haven't had the heart to get another one or two yet.
Sorry about your loss... I hope you will share the love with more cats, while it is hard to lose a pet it is also very rewarding to continue to give love to more cats that need it and you know they will love you in return.
And I see when reading the posts that I am far from the only one who understands the "ownership" dynamic.
