Never had it to where I thought it meant anything.
Anytime someone says something good about me I wonder what their real motive is.
I worked for 27 years for the Federal Government and it didn't mean a thing. The only reason people said anything good amongst the various departments was because a Federal Mandate came out saying "you will get along".
Only then was there any Interdepartmental Communication.

I take charge unless rebuffed. Until then I don't need approval. ;) I think that's a good rule to follow in life.

Note: I understood approval differently I guess. To answer it as I now think it was asked, it is nice to get a pat on the back for a job well done. In that sense of approval, yes.

I think all of us appreciate words of approval as well as appreciation, however I'm comfortable enough at this point of my life that I don't expect it, demand it or feel bad if I don't get it.
