Do you live near a train track? Can you hear the trains coming and going?

Sir Jim 2008/07/21 11:57:04
I love the sound.
I guess I live too close. I hate it.
I can barely hear them at night
No, I don't ever hear a train at my home.
You!

I used to stay in a house that was formerly the depot, when the trains went through at night the whole place would shake. Didn't bother me though, I like the sound of the lonesome whistle blowin'. I also lived in chicago for 17 yrs near the calumet harbor, the horns blowing from the freighters was awesome at night. lived chicago 17 yrs calumet harbor horns blowing freighters awesome

We live right next to the port of Newcastle, so we get the coal and passenger train through regularly. love sound live port newcastle coal passenger train regularly
But I do miss the 3801 "The Flying Scotsman" went on that beast a few times... I want to go to Poland next, you can pay to drive a real fully functional commercial steam train over there.

I can't hear the trains on the tracks -- just a tad too far away for that -- but I do get to hear their whistles echoing through the canyon nearby. Very cool!

I used to barely hear them at night, and know what times to expect that sound; then I got so used to that I stopped hearing them. I have lived next door to a railway line, and it was extremely loud! My husband loves model trains, and has entertained our grandchildren for hours with them!http://www.aerojockey.co...

I don't and don't want to. When I was driving and having
my epileptic seizures I blacked out one night at 10:00pm
and made a wrong turn down the tracks and drove 500 ft
on the tracks ruining 3 of my tires. I came too sitting there
next to the track on one side of me and a telephone poll
on the other side of me and a building infront of me. The
train came two minutes after I got off the tracks. I get
chills every time I hear a train at night time. It is just another
chapter in my book and another time God has taken care of
    me.

I can hear them across town, and it is the saddest, loneliest sound- I don't like it.

I grew up in a town with lots of tracks. I remember the sound of the trains in the night. I guess it's like people in the city who grow accustomed to the sound of traffic.
