This is how the majority of people works. If you are rude and obnoxious, they are going to see you as rude and obnoxious and treat you that way. There may be a few like myself that ignores people like that because most of the time they find hurting people's feelings entertaining. I will never let people have an upper advantage over me,especially with my emotions. The Golden Rule is does help and works.

I certainly try. My goal and intent is always to treat others as myself, as our Lord commanded, unless I have my head up my ass for some reason, in which case I then apologize, repent of my behavior, and work out my penance through the sacraments, and in reparation to the party I may offended.
