However, that depends a lot on the type of vehicle that I'm either driving or
riding in. Most Hondas, Toyotas, Volkswagens, Hyundais, etc. are fairly
tolarable for long trips. However Ford is an entirely different story. Every
one of Ford's vehicles are rolling torture chambers. I couldn't stand to be
in one of those things for any significant length of time. I can't stand Ford.
It gives me time to read, write, listen to music, watch movies, and just stare out the window, thinking about life. I don't like driving for long periods of time, though.
My daughter has the worst case of travel sickness I have seen , since my brother used to throw up on me when I was a kid on every holiday car journey . " ewwwwww "
She only has to start a journey and she starts going green bless her even when she is out of the car for an hour , she can still throw up
I like great road trips. I have a book called "The Most Scenic Drives in America...120 spectacular road trips, " which is a Reader's Digest compilation. I have been on a few of them, and feel that I could ramble around the USA for months at a time taking in all the beauty, great eating establishments, and meeting my fellow countrymen!
I love the scenery but get suffer from motion sickness and we have to stop on a egular basis for me to get some air and walk about. How I envy those who can travel, they don't know how lucky they are.
Yes I love them. We were in the military for 26 years and 12 years Civil Service, and I dearly missed the traveling when my husband was forced to retire due to disabilities. We made a few trips afterwards, we did have a motor home but it became obvious that he couldn't travel that way either. We couldn't even got visit kids and grand kids. He passed this past Oct. and I am going to travel again. I wanted a small used motor home but I
m still fighting getting the financial things with the government done. So until then I may make some smaller trips with my dogs in my car to the kids that are only two and three days drive away. But those places have snow right now, plus I am facing a six weekly series of office surgeries starting the 14th, so looks like I won't be able to till early April.
Good luck to you and hopefully you will be up and running in no time. I have worked with seniors for many years, for the last three at a veterans' hospital. They all tell me the same thing: Travel NOW while you are still young and healthy enough to do so." Sage advice from wise people. I also really would love a motorhome to ramble around with my German Shepherd in.
As long as you get a '95 or newer, you can pick up some pretty nice ones with low mileage for under $15,000. not bad. There's one down here that I'm going to check on but may be older than '95 that's a short (maybe 25') That I'm going to check on. I don't know what the mileage or condition is on the inside. I say '95 or newer as Unleaded gas was made a standard in '95 so they will take unleaded. I've done a lot of looking on the internet and Craig's list, you'd be surprised what you can get. My husband was in the VA nursing home a lot, but they'd always say he was better and send him home, he was never home over a month. Last time they wanted to send him home I refused, I was told by several people to do that, I could not take care of him at home. They said he could stay there but because of load situation they would have to keep moving him around. I opted to send him to an Assisted Living, plus it was a lot closer to home. Now Aid and Attendence stiffed me on that. I paid $81000. and I'm still fighting them.
