Water is the only drink I will have ice in. I drink cold soda already, I don't need to add something to it that will make the soda suck in a half hour.

It's the thing I miss about eating out in America the most. In Europe, there is no such thing as "free refills" and you have to pull teeth to get ice. To their credit, McDonalds ALWAYS puts ice in their drinks, no matter where in the world you are. When I went back to Arizona for Christmas, I wanted three things when I got off the plane after an 11 hour flight:

1. A shot of Jagermeister - for my fatigue headache.
2. An American cheeseburger made with actual beef.
3. An Ice tea, with ice!

Item number 3 made me happier than anything. I'm pretty sure I drank a half gallon of the stuff.

The exception has nothing to do with the drink itself, but rather the verification that the ice has been made from purified water. One of my favorites here in Vietnam is Cafe Sua Da...which is VN black coffee, condensed milk stirred over ice. And since it's usually pretty hot here in Southern Vietnam all the time, I always order my 333 Beer or Tiger Beer w ice in a glass. Keeps the beer cold, and sort of smoothes it out through dillution and makes it easier to have a few beers without feeling the effects.
