How long does it take for the cacti to grow that tall? Do you grow Joe Pye weed? I think you would like it as it is very large and attracts butterflies. It can be cut back or it can grow to large shrub size.
I have tried morning glory from seed and not had any success. It is never available as a plant here so I will just have to keep trying.
I bought a Prickly Pear recently. I am looking forward to it growing but yes I have had several times where I was trying to remove flesh coloured barbs from my flesh coloured fingers.
I didn't have any luck with moonflowers either. Where I live we have a mild climate ( south west coast) but that means things that like a hot summer don't do that well here. I might do better if I had a grow light and could start them indoors. I'm not well set up for that at the moment.
Yes, I have always wanted one too and mainly so I can start seeds and try out trickier things. Though it's also the only way to get good tomatoes here.
We have lots of cloud cover even on days that are warm, so tomatoes don't get as much bright sunlight as they need, but the heat of a glass house helps. It is usually later in the summer that they are ripe though the cherry tomatoes ripen faster.
I have a balcony garden right now and the conditions are really strange. I face west but am sheltered by two cedar trees. I get late day and evening sun and it comes in through the branches so is sort of dappled. I can have one plant in a pot that requires sunlight sitting right next to one that requires shade. Winters are wet but if I pull the pots up against the wall they dry out. So my plants drown or dry up over winter-lol. I'll probably have gardening on this balcony perfected by the time I'm ready to move.
oh here the thing we call fire weed is different, though it is a purple flower. This plant, Joe Pye Weed is also called eupatorium and you can get it at plant nurseries though I do believe it seeds itself. This is the stuff we call fireweed where I live. It is epilobium.
