Can't imagine anybody not liking it. My wife and I spent about a month in Shanghai, Nanjing and Guangzhou while retrieving our son who became a part of our family in 2003. I remember our interpreter and handler apologizing for the heat in what was referred to by the Chinese as the "three furnaces of China." We assured them that the weather in east-central China was nicer than hot and humid coastal South Carolina. When we ate -- we ate quite well. The food was far superior to Chinese restaurants in the U.S., and the ingredients looked inexpensive. When we ate the best soup that we had ever eaten in our lives, my wife inquired what was in it. Our hotel hostess and our interpreter both froze for a moment -- and then with very neutral looks on their faces and with almost rehearsed responses said, "Yes, it is very good. Sometimes it is best to not ask about ingredients." After a "frozen moment" of our own, we thanked them and continued eating. Regardless, if we ever return, we will order it again and not ask too many questions. Sadly, McDonalds and KFC are making inroads in China. Nothing wrong with cultural exchanges, but we can do far better.
I lived in Shanghai myself for ten years, it's one of the reasons why I don't particularly like Chinese food these days. I like the more spicy Chinese food you get in Sichuan.
Ooooh, yeah! Love the link you provided. I would have answered you earlier ... but I had to look at it for a long while. I just happen to have the dried hot peppers from my fall/winter garden. Now to gather the other ingredients and get to work. Sichuan -- yes, I think dry curry spices are in order here too ...
I like real Chinese food. This crap that passes as Chines food here in America is Americanized for Americans. When I've been in China, I eat very well.

I must decline ..
for I can't tolerate that much 'heat' ..
And now I can only stand their chicken thingies O.o
dunno the name, but yeah xD
I think your talking about western "Chinese" food.
You don't see many fat people in China at all, Chinese food has very little calories in it.
But i believe you, in China local food surely tastes better and is more healthy.
