You're so LUCKY!!!! Bananas are a good source of potassium!!!! Which I'm always lacking of. And then when I need surgery, I have to have it via IV!!!! OUCH! It's COLD that way!!!
If you can't eat them like they are, you make lots of stuffs out of them. Like juice, pancakes, cakes, and you can even fry them and they taste like plantains(:
I can't eat anything that with any taste of banana on them. My ears, tongue and throat just start itching and then my togue starts to swell up. And this is just from eating rice that had had a small piece of banana lying on top of it as a decoration!!!!
Bananas and nuts are natural foods. Who'd think my friend (peanut allergy) and I would be allergic to these foods? And bananas are so good for you too!!!!!
I have to be rid of my banana allergy before I can try this delicious pudding!!! It's been 37-years since I developed my allergy. I CRAVE BANANA SPLITS and BANANA BREAD!!!!! At a luncheon, I ate some rice that had, had a piece of banana sitting on it. My ears and tongue began to itch. And then my tongue began to swell!!!! I had to race to my doctor for an injection!!!! Oh, bananas not like me at all!!!! But I love bananas!!!!
Oh, you poor thing, I'm sorry for your pain here. Food allergies really bug me. I know so many people who have them. But I have to admit I've never come across anyone with an allergy to bananas. How about that. And you mention banana bread? I love that stuff. The banana nut bread. Hmmm. But switch your taste over to carrot cake. That's pretty much similar!
incidentally, how does one "get rid of" a food allergy? Is that at all possible?
I don't know. I was NEVER allergic to bananas until I was 24-years old. And none of my siblings are allergic to bananas. My oldest sister developed an allergic reaction to Penicillin AFTER the birth of her second child. Her late husband (wore a Medic Alert bracelet) and son also allergic to Penicillin, but her daughter isn't. Strange, huh?
I'm hoping that my banana allergy will just "go away" as mysteriously as it began" : the day I tried a "Banana Chip!" One little piece. That's all it took!!!
I LOVE CARROT CAKE! Now THAT, I can eat!!!! (in hawaii, we're always getting banana bread from friends and relatives!!!! it's really popular here!!! yes, my sister always eats it in front of me, even though i tell her to please go into the closet and eat the bread...........)
Your sister sounds a lot like mine when we were growing up. Bette was a bully to me and my brother, even though he was older than she was. I was the baby, so that was fair game, I suppose. But I can feel your pain when she pulls those stunts like that. But please, do yourself a favor and laugh at the humor of it all. Appreciate the attention she gives you. Most of all, never let a day go by without telling her you love her. Bette passed away suddenly in 1989 two days before her 45th birthday. And I have not been the same since. I miss her just as much today as I did the day she died.
But I have to stop with this. Bette is pretty much slapping the back of my head for getting maudlin. She would never allow me to lose my sense of humor and zest for life. Told you she was a bully.
Meanwhile, were I you I would purchase a huge carrot cake and eat it all by myself without sharing with you know who. That sounds like a good payback. Except when I think about how lousy you'll feel when you're done eating all that sugar at one time. Ooops, that wasn't a smart thing to recommend.
How about we both get together and just wish and pray that your allergy goes away soon. Now THAT sounds like a plan.
I'm so sorry you lost your sister! And she was so young too!
I'm the youngest of 5 siblings and I would miss both sisters and my remaining second oldest brother if I ever lost one of them. We lost my oldest brother on December 21, 2000, and it still hurts badly and feels very strange, because it was always the "5 of us together." You know that "one person missing" feeling?
My second oldest sister, is always teasing me: she tries to kick me and run off, because she knows I can't run after her and kick her back without falling down!!!!! I'm 61 and she's 67 going on 3. I think I'm the "mature" one, though sometimes it's questionable............
Yes, Thank You! I think praying that my banana allergy goes away is a good thing! Then I don't have to worry about what's in the food I'm eating in any restaurant!
Banana is not my favorite fruit.
