I HATE answering machines! I don't leave them and the only reason I start to listen to ones left for me is to get rid of the stupid symbol at the top of my phone screen.

Not usually, unless I need someone to call me back for something REALLY important and they're not answering a text either. Other times, just to leave weird messages to make someone laugh (rarely though). Otherwise, no. I generally don't even like calling people unless I'm driving or it's important.

I wont' leave a message if they don't answer the phone.
But, if I know they won't answer the phone, I'll leave a weird, creepy, probably sassy message.

I usually don't.I hang up and call later.If it's important and it's something I want to say right away,I will leave a message,but I have to say everything so I get cut off and have to call back to finish the message.If it's my sister or a friend I don't leave a message ever.

Sometimes. It depends on why and who I am calling. I leave voice mail or messages on answering machines always with my kids. I also may leave a message when returning a call to let the person know I did return the call.

YES .. I do ..
Although I am Retired nowadays ..
I'm still very active and involved in many activities (including volunteering)
this means that I'm not going to hang out and just wait for the phone to ring ..
IF they really want to talk to me (personally)
they already know to leave a specific message ..
I'll get to it as quickly as I can ..

(and I also give the same courtesy to others .. )
I leave a clear message with my number to return the phone call
