Yes, but I am definitely no genius at it. lol I play just for fun, though. Most people play as if their entire egos hinge on it, like Bridge and other games.

Electronic games have taken the mystique out of this ancient game.
GE's ‘Big Blue’ finished it off a few years back.
Human brain logic is limited for looking ahead in moves, machine or not with the correct software.
However still fun to play chess for brain exercise.
There are lots of good players in the online chess sites. chess.com, instantchess.com, playchess.com, etc. You can play against a computer or you can play pvp, play in tournaments, etc. Lotsa fun. :)
I just don't like it as much because my teacher - a.k.a. my father - was as vicious at winning as I am at winning games of Scrabble. It isn't fun when, as part of learning you have to accept that you can't win.
Not that I ever accepted it - I was too stubborn for that. It just lost any fun it might have had.
Knowing how to play chess well, takes a great mind.
I gave up playing chess when my seven-year old son began beating me on a consistent basis.....tells you something about the quality of my mind.
