Do you have a strange phobia?

I'm not going to say what it is because people on Sodahead can be @$$holes and may put a picture up of what I am so fearful of.

I'm dead serious - I can't even look at a picture without either closing my eyes or turning away, and if I see one in person, I will have to move away. Just recently I looked up my phobia online and, low and behold, tons of pictures on Google Images popped up and my roommate had to change the screen. That's how bad it is. It's pathetic I know, but it is something I have to deal with and hopefully eventually face.

I am just curious if you have any phobia or know anybody close to you who has a very strange phobia. And, if possible, say what the phobia is. Trust me, nothing will be judged! ;) But if you are scared of even pictures of your phobia, you may not want to say it, because like I said, people on Sodahead can be @$$holes...

UPDATE: The responses I'm getting are great! This is gonna be open for awhile! PHOBICS UNITE!!!! Just remember, if you have a phobia that is "strange," you are not alone!

My friend has a problem with that too! She says that raw meat literally scares her but that cooked meat is fine. Is that kind of where you are?

yes! haha cooked is fine and delicious and then i see it raw and i'm like freaking the heck out haha my brothers always torcher me about it lol

Ah yes... the joy of younger brothers... My brother did the same to me but luckily now he feels bad about it - he now knows just how serious it is! ;) So I can't find a phobia for raw meat, but I'm gonna keep looking tomorrow because there SHOULD be phobia for that!

I don't trust boats and every time I get in one I think I'm going to drowned or something and I'm not a great swimmer because don't like the water it started when I was about 7 I fell out of my Grandpas boat and did almost drowned so I guess that's why.

Well childhood trauma is certainly what caused mine, so I feel you. Don't be ashamed! I believe your phobia is Thalassophobia - which is basically fear of drowning by falling in water. Would that be accurate?

So I found out that it is either Thalassophobia or barcaphobia (literally fear of boats) - possibly other words for it, but it's a start. ;)

my best friend Yuuri is afraid of something. It sounds childish but it's really not, she starts to scream and cry when she see them, it's horrible to see her so frightened.

Yeah believe me, I know the feeling! My friends feel bad for me too when they see me so scared, but unfortunately that's the way it is. Doesn't sound childish at all - to me it just sounds like she has a phobia which I unfortunately know all too well... Argh Best of luck to her!!!!

the dark i know its stupid...childish i still am partally cause of my emotion disorder i saw something that scared me one day at night ever sense then i still am i have to be in some low light...go ahead mock me i dont give ah d@m what you think if your gonna innsault me about it

Not mocking or insulting you at all! It is Nyctophobia and is clinical - my phobia is not clinical at all - it's just weird. If you knew mine, you might just roll your eyes! haha Like I said, there are no judgments here - only sharing, and thank you for sharing!

Well at least you're not afraid of a picture! Props to you and I have a bit of jealousy! ;) But believe me, I can TOTALLY understand why you would be afraid of these things! My friend's house is full of cockroaches and while I'm not afraid of them, I can only imagine the fear somebody could have in a house full of them...

I don't have a "strange" phobia.

I have a phobia of sickness. Every time i pass a hospital or see someone sick on the bus or something i start getting panicky then i feel i have to get off. I feel like im locked inside a caged box with a bunch of sick people carrying god knows what diseases that i can not avoid because im inhaling them more and more i breath O_o
I dont know if this is considered strange or not but no matter where i go i end up seeing a sick person. I dont like leaving my house most of the time becaue i know i will run into someone whos so ill and sick (coughing, sneezing, etc.) that its possible i will be infected with this unknown virus or disease.
Its my fear really :(

Believe me I know the feeling of a sort... If I see my phobia, it will be known that I practically saw the devil and need to get away! By the way, Emetophobia is what they call "fear of being sick" so obviously you are not alone! Thanks for your response and I wish you luck! :)

I have a "strange" phobia.

For example, a friend of mine has Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia - the fear of the number 666. She can't even look at the number. Yes she is religious. haha But this would be considered a "strange" phobia, as mine is but I'm not saying it! ;)
