I found them quite uncomfortable. The form fitting toes felt weird, didn't like them at all - and I really really wanted to!

Yes

They may be goofy to you, but for someone who has ankle and back issues, walking or running in these shoes are about as comfy as you can get. Imagine being barefoot everywhere without the pain of sharp things on the ground.
