had one '' miep'' hard to translate,,,,sometinge like jane in plane jane but more derogative,,dont know is there an american name for housewife/cleeninglady? wel that's miep! often o so sweatly made in to 'mieppie'' my fhirst husband was so sweat to call me that,,and although I worked as a fullgrown man and he sat on his ass ,,everyone from those days still remeber me as miep ,,he was a selling genious,,but i did the manual labour ,,repairing chesterfield leather furniture,,not an eassy task,,and we did well ,,extremley well,,,but when you'rre intoduced to the ''bigshots'' and driving a jagg twr sport,, its a bit imbaresing to be introduced as miep jong,,,,as a nickname i thought it was cute ,,but it became my ffing indentety,,and i'm not a ''miep'' im a person!!
You could have said you were nicknamed "Miep" after Miep Gies... a HERO, and not a house mouse. A name (even a nickname) should say something good about the person. And we should NEVER call our loved ones a bad name like that!
