A kid gets hit in the head with a ping-pong ball and then his friends make a re-mix out of it.

Before the internet and video cameras, moments like these were just passing memories that we could all laugh at and move on from. Screw that. The hilarity of this kid taking a ping-pong hit right above his eye was caught on video and now this YouTube clip replays the moment in a multitude of ways — slow-mo, rewind, fast forward, you name it. It makes you want to check for the video camera before you do anything.

As long as they didn't get seriously injured, its funny! Not because "it makes my life seem not as bad" but because it's just....comical for some reason! People doing stupid stuff is funny!

Yes it is funny when someone slips on a banana peel or strikes their thumb with the hammer or does the million and one stupid things humans do everyday.However it is NOT funny when it happens to me.

NO!!! Emphatically NO!!! It is NOT funny to see a 2 year old kicked into the air by a break dancer and anyone that laughs at something like that should be caned!!! At least the nut shot videos have one redeeming value though. There's at least a slim chance that the jerks that actually LET people do that to them won't be able to reproduce.

The Stooges are not the same, in the same way that horror movies are not the same as those "Faces of Death" collections of real horrors.

Stooge pseudoviolence or horror movie gore are more of an effigy that allows us at least the illusion of control. While there may be a subset of the population that revels in the thought of real violence and real horror, most of us long for some means of mastering those forces. We can't, of course, but media and performance are some of the means we use to strike back, and ridicule them, symbolically.

For some people, maybe the distance of video is enough. But I expect most fans of fake violence (stooges, horror, pro wrestling, etc.) don't want to get too close to the real thing.

Sometimes I do, but it's not always funny. I sometimes delight in schadenfreude, but it has to be pretty ridiculous. I like to laugh at kids going nuts over video games.
