Do you find tattoos to be Trashy or a form of Art?

Not only are they art but they're very very hot with a nice design in the right place <3

I have tattoos. Tattoos is art. Tattoos are another way to express yourself. The only time i think tattoos are trashy are when the tattoo has no meaning.

It IS art. No argument. Most people get tattoos for a good reason and personally I think it's beautiful and it shows you aren't afraid to be commited to something. I'm sorry for you running in to close minded people. My dad doesn't like tattoos but he says they are art no matter what, he would just rather not have one. It's your body, it's YOUR choice. (of course there are quite a few tasteless and trashy tattooos too).

Very agreeably! My mother despises tattoos. She herself got one which i found very hypocritical. And i know there will be more people that don't like them or that will judge me for having them but hey, like you said it's My body. And they tell part of MY story.

Exactly. My mom is soo funny, she wants to get a tattoo but she thinks she is too old to do it, and she is also afraid of the pain, same with my aunt.
I even talked my friend who said she will absolutely never-ever get a tattoo to actually consider it and not be all "you defiled your body" thing.
You can't help those people so you may as well shrug them off.

It's a personal choice.

it depends on the type of person. if the person is a clean, educated one and simply has tattoos, then it's nice.

it depends, they could easily be either one. But if they are done right and you don't over do it by having way too many, then sure they are definitely a form of art and/or expression. And don't worry about other people's comments. If you like your Tats, F___k what anybody else thinks. I have two right now and I'm about to get a few more and I couldn't care less what someone on sodahead thinks of them.

Because nothing is more beautiful than a God/mother nature/whatever given body. Tatoo is a kind of competition between talentless artists (or at least less talented) and The greatest one. Then we have pearcing - ever uglier. Next step - more radical alyering our appearence - surgical amputation.

It's art in my opinion and I love how they have a lot of meaning. Well most of the time they do, I mean its on you forever, that's a lot of meaning in itself.

No not trash. I would rather see them on other people rather than me.

I have 9 small Chinese word symbols across my back in a slow "S" shape form starting from my left shoulder to my right hip. They stand for my life cycle and have a spiritual meaning to me. I got them after I lost everything that I worked for my entire life. These symbols have helped to keep me moving forward with what I have left and that is me. They are birth, faith, sun, love, sorrow, knowledge, moon, faith & return. They symbolize my time here, who I am. Tattoos are a form of expression, another Art form that is very personal. This Art form of expression has been around since the beginning of mankind, when communication between people went from brain to words to expressing through drawing by hand. In other words ignore those monkeys who never evolved through Art ;)

While i'm sorry to hear how much youve lost, im glad to know that you got back up again. and through art.

I just get tattoo's of cool pictures I like to look at. I don't really know or care, whether it's trashy or a form of art.

I think it depends on what the tattoo depicts. Most of the time, tattoos aren't trashy at all.

I think it all depends on the content of the art, I have one that I consider trashy, would love to have it removed, the other I love and am glad it is there.

I definately agree. Theres the do's and don'ts. I take pride in mine. It defines what i think and what i do.
