Not usually. I live at the beach and they are all over the place, drunk, pissing on peoples lawns, leaving their broken needles in the sand for others to step on. They are pan handling on every street corner and you can hardly walk out on the pier without being hit up for money so some drunk can get another 40oz.
I often wonder what circumstance lead them to being homeless. I'd like to help, but there are so many scammers out there. I still regret not helping a guy that I saw on Venice Beach last year. I probably felt more sorry for his dog, but still I should have helped. Again a scammer sort of ruined it for this guy. I once tried to give a pan handler a pizza and he wouldn't take it because he said his doctor told him not to eat pizza. I just hate people that take advantage of others and end up hurting the ones that really need help. Apparently ones dignity and self respect isn't worth too much.
I used to until a couple of years ago, we gave a homeless man some money and then he went and took his cell phone out of his bag.
I felt taken and ever since, I don't give them money. Plus, Houston started fining people who give homeless money, so that plays a part in it also, I guess.
our economy is so bad, that some people have a hard time and live on the streets, but on the other hand no I don't, they can live in a shelter, but alot of people cant' live by rules, a Hugh amount of people working a sign, will make $300 on up a day, which it more than almost any of us make.
I work with the homeless a couple of hours a day for 3 days a week. It's heartbreaking, and getting worse every day. Just ordinary people trying to get by in extra-ordinary times.
Yes, but I wouldn't give them money or invite them back home with me. Instead I have been known to offer food and I have once or twice been told to shove off by fake tramps (guys who tramp around all day earning money to feed an addiction), but I won't stop offering nourishment if I ever come across any.
I do indeed. There is a saying: "He was the Author of his own Misfortune"-meaning basically that often a person's troubles are attributable to themselves.I believe in many cases of homeless people-but of course, not all-that that statement is probably true-drink, drugs, addiction-often are a major factor in many individuals' descent into the 'down and out' status.
However, I DO feel sorry for such people and thus I favour another 'statement' over the latter:
"There but for the Grace of God go I." (!)
it really depends on the reason why they are homless if the reason is drug addiction then I personally dont feel sorry for them because they tecniclly put themselves out in the street. (ex sold their houses, car...ect) further more there are free rehab clinics that help people in those situations out but those indaviduals refuse to help themselves and get themselves to those rehab clinics...so why should i feel sorry for some one who puts themselves through all that misery just to get high....and for those of you who want to yell at me and send hate mail....my challange to you is this move to an area that has major drug problems and hang out with the addicts, dealers, prostitutes and your point of veiw will change dont get me wrong I'm not discrimanating I'm just stating the truth.
I do however have some empathy for those out in the streets due to Mental illness, Kids running away from abusive homes..ect. but alot of them become addicts themselves which is a major problem and makes things worse for them.
To me that's a yes and no I feel bad for people who are homeless at no fault of there own and I could cae less for the ones who put themselves there because of drugs and alcohol .
the number one reason for homelessness is Mental illness. Until this nation comes to terms on how to handleTHAT, then homelessness will almost come to an end.
It is almost impossible to ignore but it is done here in this nation every day.
This is MY opinion and you asked me for it. So, keep your hate mail to yourself. I don't feel sorry for the homeless person, but I ALWAYS feel so bad for their pet. I am dispicable. I know it.

I do feel bad for the kids. Heartbreaking.
But a path of relief lies ahead with the full implementation of PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act)

Hate me or rave me I don't care.
