Not a can, but I am definitely guilty of eating ice cream out of the container. If they only packaged it in cans - I could change my answer to yes with a clear conscience.

Daily, i usually open a can or 2 of tuna and other stuff as midinight snack.

Only if I'm REALLY hungry or lack a bowl. Ate out of a can/pouch all the time back in the army.

Yep, remember it well. Just something about those MRE's, especially, spaghetti and meat balls in a plastic bag - cold - yuck. Use to dump that crap into my mess kit and sit it on the manifold of a truck while it was running - not quite as bad warmed up.

Beanie Weenies are one of my "guilty pleasure" foods. I don't like how they taste heated up, so I eat them straight out of the can. I'll also eat canned fruit once in a blue moon.

No, absolutely not. My cousin ate tuna out of the can once and got so sick she had to have her stomach pumped.

I have done it quite a few times. On a 100-mile bike trip, I enjoyed a can of Campbell's Scotch Broth soup right out of the can, while sitting on a curb in Otis, Oregon.

Also, Pork and Beans, and Vienna sausages are good right out of the can.

Nah... I spent my last 10 years or so eatin' MREs. Originally, we referred to 'em as "Meals Rejected by Ethiopia". While they did improve by the time I retired, I still preferred the C-rats. MREs were an improvement over the Vietnam era dehydrated LRRP rations, but you could work magic with Cs.

C-ration stew: 1. Open case. 2. Take all main meals bearing the letters 'H-A-M' or
'E-G-G-S' and throw 'em away. 3. Empty remaining meals into large container, heat thorughly. 4. Serve with extremely liberal amounts of tobasco sauce.





... and despite all the complaints you frequently heard, Ham and Eggs was actually pretty good if you took the time to heat 'em slowly and made certain you opened the can before heatin' 'em over a heat tab... Better than sex on a cold morning and almost as good as a pair of dry socks... ;0)

I'm taking your word on it! You sound like you have plenty of experience with them and my only experience was when my son gave me an MRE pack of scrambled eggs, it looked as shiney as the plastic pouch it came in but no where near as tastey.

I usually get my usda of aluminum out of the Klim Tins ;)
