It is a book written by people who hoped to find a way to manage the masses into behaviors that best suited the people at the time. Maybe they even believed in this stuff, they probably did, in their heart of hearts. I don't see it as relevant with respect to deity and providence.
I think it is wholly arrogant and presumptive to believe there is an omniscient/omnipotent infinite being out there who believes so strongly in us. Who created us for what ever reason. In the vast magnitude of the known universe in both grand size and distance out and minute, infinitesimal size in, it is unfathomable to assert we, a speck of dust within it all, warrant any special attention other then from ourselves.
