Mayans didn't take into consideration of the idea of leap year... The world would have ended a long time ago.

The Mayans had a better calendar than the Europeans. They knew the period of the Earth, Mars, and Venus to four decimal places. They did not state that the world ends on 12/21/2012.

There have been roughly 514 leap years since Cesar created it in 45 BC. Without the extra day every 4 years today would be July 28, 2014 (June 9, 2012). The Mayan calendar did not account for leap year so technically the world should have ended 7 months ago.
