Do You Believe Bigfoot Exists?

Every couple years someone will produce a blurry picture and claim to have seen Bigfoot. But now, an Idaho scientist is taking the quest to find the mythical creature to new heights—literally. Jeffrey Meldrum, an anatomy and anthropology professor at Idaho State University, plans to take to the skies and search the Pacific Northwest for signs of the creature.

The blimp-based venture, named the Falcon Project, was originally the idea of William Barnes, a Utah man who claims to have encountered Bigfoot in 1997 in Northern California. Years later, Barnes approached Meldrum and now the two men are working together to find the mythical ape-like beast. That is if they can raise $300,000-plus in private donations for the blimp and thermal-imaging equipment.

So far, financing has been slow going. But Meldrum told Reuters that two cable channels are vying for rights to produce a reality series following the months-long expedition. And Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot shows that there is definitely interest in the subject.
