If I feel that my input or 'what is on my mind' will improve the situation I always speak up. If it doesn't make a difference or could potentially make things worse, I will keep to myself.

I say what is on my mind when I think what I have to say will be helpful and not harmful to someone. I try to speak out of love, and try to hold my tongue when I have thoughts that if I spoke them would do more harm than good. But definitely I am not perfect and when angry it is harder to "button the mouth."

With age, I've learned when to strike. "Speak softly and carry a big stick" was a great quote from Teddy Roosevelt. It is so true, there is a time and a place to speak up. I now speak up when all my facts are straight in order to deliver a debilitating blow!
