I don't know why, logically I know it doesn't matter, but emotionally they feel like a young child.

Tone of voice matters when training a dog. A low growling voice tells a dog that it's done something wrong, while a higher pitched happy voice tells it it has done something good. All that goo goo garbage is for the birds (no pun intended), but tone of voice does matter with dogs and cats are beyond hope.

hahahahahaha....It makes me NUTS when other people do it, but I am soooooo guilty of it hahahahaha already Bob has been called 'Big Bobby Boo Boo' and 'Mommies little fuzzy pants' at least a dozen times each.. but unlike elvis, who btw wants to kill Bob, answers to nothing... not even Elvis. To get him, I have to shake the cat treat can lol

Whenever I see that sweet little face and big loving eyes looking up at me I cannot resist. If I didn't baby talk to my chihuahua she would get frightened and think she was in trouble.. : P Anyway, animals all prefer a high female voice because it is less intimidating than a lowered voice.

LOL....I was raised by my grandma and grandpa who were Mennonite, but both raised Amish.. they spoke perfect english, but mostly spoke PA dutch, like a german slang. Hence, I can speak that fluent as well. But no one understands it, except my 6 year old because I always spoke it with him..but, I almost always talk to my animals in PA Dutch lol..I don't know if they understand any of it, but they come to my voice anyway lol

My grand mother was from Amish country funny thing here is she did not speak PA German, But my grandfather her husband he spoke some seeing his father was from Germany. I wish i knew more German, Between my grandmother from Amish PA and my grandfather being German, My godfather was German and I was raised by so many Germans both from the old country and PA dutch, I really should speak that language.

My dogs respond to my tone of voice. It's not all lovey dovey all the time. I do have one dog that understands some words and phrases.

Why is it that I think they can speak our language but prefer not too! And I always get the feeling that they communicate to one anoter telepatically.
