    It depends on how frequently and how casually the swear words are used. I'm not saying that people who swear a lot are unintelligent, but when one's vocabulary is limited to mainly swear words, it certainly can make one appear a little less intelligent.

    if all people do is swear, it kind of makes me feel like they can't think of anything else to say. but usually no, and i don't think swearing is as bad as people make it out to be.

    It demonstrates their lack of self control under duress. Many times that is associated with ignorance but it is also learned behavior. Monkey see monkey do.

    It depends on the swear word. "M----f---ker" seems to occur a lot from dumber types, while "s--thead" and "f--kface" are often used by smart people.

    Not necessarily..
    I find that people seem unintelligent when their whole argument consists of insults and swear words.

    But a few here and there with a logical reply, no big deal.

    Not swear words, my friend, but sentence enhancers.
    Note how boring this sentence is;

    The dog jumped over the wall.

    Now let's add a few sentence enhancers;

    The bastard dog jumped over the f**king wall, bitches!

    There, that's more interesting XD XD XD

    If a person cannot discuss something for a few minutes without cursing I would say they have a limited vocabulary.

    It depends on how often the person swears and how they use the swear words and things like that.

    If someone swears, he could been seen uncontrolled or rude but not unintelligent.

    There are a lot on here that like to think so. Lack of intelligence makes you unintelligent...

    Compulsive judgers seem unintelligent to me. The compulsively prudish as well. In my experience, those who whine endlessly about the 'profanity' of others are working in opposition to their own cause with the first complaint. The most effective way to fight 'profanity' or bad grammar is by not using it yourself.

    I never pay attention to my grammar. I type like 70 words a minute and when people point out spelling mistakes I usually tell them "If your trying to invalidate me by making me seem unintelligent you should also mention the..." and i mention the other grammar errors

    Excellent response!

    The point, of course, is that one most effectively corrects 'bad behavior' by correcting his/her own bad behavior first.

  • Todd Vicerei... 2012/08/08 20:29:20

    But then maybe it's not the swear words at all, it's just the context that makes something stupid.
    what about
    "I'm going to punch that gayboy until he squeels if he messes with me"
    ^Pretty much same sentence without swears
