They will not want a war. They would simply conquer the earth. There is no reason to go to the trouble and expense of traveling the universe if you don't want something. Since you mention Hawking you might be familiar with Einstein doing calculations showing that worm holes to the past are theoretically and mathematically possible within the Theory of Relativity, but the there is the grandfather paradox. According to many Black Ops insiders travel to the past creates new timelines, which doesn't involve a grandfather paradox. There are supposedly worm holes through space and time and artificial portals that have been made connected to them. Keep in mind that many star systems are millions or billions of years older than Earth which allows many alien species to be much more advanced technologically than Earth and to overcome things that related to space travel, which seem insurmountable now.
I know this is all based on testimony and speculation, but it brings up the point that the situation could be much different than the idea that under any circumstance, if an alien group discovered Earth it would just openly take over.

And according to the bible, the earth is 6000 years old, the universe was created in 6 days, and even though we share 98% EXACT DNA as chimps, we still don't have a common ancestor. Let's not even talk about redundant human features (like the appendix, coccyx, wisdom teeth, the remnant of the nictitating membrane, inactive genes for producing a tail, and many others) which you wouldn't expect from a god.
We have scientific evidence that flat out contradicts those ancient texts. So before you make up your "opinion" based on a doctrine you were practically forced to believe (like I once was), try to learn a little bit more about how biological life works and what our current science has to say. No 2 religions can be right, so I can safely say at least 75% of world's religions are flat out a lie. And if 75% can fool and retain followers for thousands of years, it's safe to bet that all 100% of them are the same (especially when they all descend from similar stories and ancient figures).

Theres no evidence for alien life. I'm not going to say they exist, but I can't say they don't. Just like I can't say some sort of God doesn't exist. But probabilistically, because we have life on earth, we can predict the probability that life on other planets. Almost certainly we have not been visited by any extraterrestrial (intelligent) life, but even that I cannot conclude. And I agree, there's almost always something fishy about the typical "UFO" alien stories, because they're most likely fabricated or misinterpreted events. But by "aliens" I usually interpret as "life on other planets". Anyway, didn't mean to come off as hostile. Just like when people keep an open mind to the reasonable possibility.
