Did You Watch Felix Baumgartner’s Jump from 24 Miles Above the Earth?

I saw it on the news after the fact. I sure wouldn't do it that is for sure!

I thought it was pretty awesome to watch. Better than all of the bickering.

What I want to know is, is this really what the curvature of the earth should look like from a mere 24 miles up? (I took some screen shots periodically as I was viewing online yesterday):

I don't think it is. The commentator even remarked that such a drastic curvature should not have been seen; that it was 'exaggerated', or some type of optical illusion. Now, my question is, if at 24 miles high such a curvature is an optical illusion, why, at, say, 150-250 miles (International Space Station), or 350 miles up (space shuttle), would we think it's NOT an optical illusion?
